Introduction

My name is Micaela Boesche and I have been a teacher for 15 years! I received my BS in Elementary Education from CU and my MS in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State. I just started a new position, teaching Kindergarten at Faubion School in Northeast Portland. I am Highly Qualified in grades K-5 to teach all subjects as well as in Language Arts and Science for the Middle School level. I have taught first, third, fifth, sixth, seventh and eight grade. I just recently finished the coursework to gain an administrative license and hope to become a educational leader in the near future. I love teaching! It is a gift to be able to work with kids and adults to help them become life long learners!

My dog Montana is my favorite animal. She is an Australian Shepard, Border Collie mix, with a bit of Blue Heeler in her. She is totally crazy, and doesn't like very many people, which is alright with me! I grew up with dogs around me all the time, but they were never truly mine, I had to share with three siblings! Montana is for sure my dog! I love having her around!

Digital Native

I consider myself to be a digital native. I have always found technology to be a very useful tool. I enjoy using it personally as well as professionally in the classroom.
I was introduced very early in life to technology, though it was nothing like what we have today. My father was an engineer before he retired, so was able to bring the technology that he used at work to us at home.
The first computer that we had always crashed on us! It was a fun way to learn though.
I am truly excited for the students of today to be able to get their hands on the various technologies that are out there.
The thing that I find to be most frustrating is the fact that the resources are not in the schools that need to be. Funding is always a huge issue. The hardward might be there, but the updates and such are not.
Students also may not have access to the things they can use at home, which as a teacher, we need to be sensitive about.

Welcome

Welcome to my Ed Tech blog! This is a place to share and learn all about technology in the teaching field. I look forward to hearing from you!
